Homemade House Cleaning Chemicals
You are able to save money on your electrical bill, lengthen your fridge’s life and save yourself the cost of ruined food and a fix bill when the refrigerator goes on the fritz. I remember the old monster of a Norge refrigerator that hummed away in my grandmama’s kitchen.
It was simply twenty years of age when I was born – and when we moved 10 years on, it was still going powerful. Long after friends’ parents had replaced their refrigerators – a number of them even twice – Nana’s Norge was freezing foods solid and keeping milk fresh and unspoilt. Nana’s secret wasn’t the kind of fridge she picked – it was in her cleaning routine. Part of Nana’s household cleaning schedule was a weekly fridge cleaning. The reality is that by adding a few straightforward steps to your usual household cleaning schedules, you are able to save cash on your electrical bill, prolong your chiller’s life and save yourself the cost of marred food and a fix bill when the refrigerator goes on the fritz. Clean the condenser coils and condenser fan biannually. The condenser coils are what keep the refrigerator cold. If they’re clogged with dust, they won’t work well.
The final result will be a chiller that doesn’t keep cold foods cold, and an overworked motor which will need service more frequently – as well as a couple of dollars more on your electrical bill every month. The coils are found either at the rear of the fridge, or across the base of the front. If they are in front, you will need to pop the grille off to get to them. If they are in back, just pull the chiller away from the wall. You may use a vacuum to scrub them, but one of the finest investments you can make is a fridge coil brush, which is specially built to get into all of the crevices and spaces to delicately clean away the mud and dust. If the coils are found on the bottom front, there’s also a condenser fan ( back coils do not need one, since they are exposed ). You can obtain access to it from either the front or the back of the chiller, and clean it with the coil cleaning brush. Wipe down the door gasket. That is the rubber seal round the door of your refrigerator. It seals the chiller firmly and keeps cold air in and warm air out. Spilled sticky stuff can stick the gasket to the chiller frame, and when you open the door, it may tear. Replacing a torn gasket can run you as much as $200. If you clean the kitchen, make it a practice to open the refrigerator door and wipe the gasket down with warm water and a sponge.
House cleaning rates. Keep vents and drip channels clear and clean. Frost free freezers have tiny air vents to permit air to circulate and keep things cold. If those become clogged or blocked by food packages, air can’t circulate and keep things frozen. Keep the fridge not more than about three / 4ths full, and ensure that food isn’t obstructing the vents.
In fridge section, there are drip channels that drain off water that is evaporated in the defrost cycle of your chiller. The channels lead to holes that drain into the drip pan. If the holes get clogged, water will collect and cause mold, odour and spoilage. Clean the fridge completely once a month. -Remove all food and store in a cooler. -Pull out drawers and racks and put in the tub with soapy water to soak.
-Wipe down walls and floor using residential dry cleaning machine of chiller and fridge with water and baking soda. If you have hard stain or spilled food, toothpaste or a degreaser can be useful.
-Wipe within dry with soft cloths or paper towels. -Clean door gasket.
-Clean the exterior of your chiller and protect it with a spray appliance cleaner and wax -Replace shelves, racks and drawers.
-Turn refrigerator on and let cool before replacing food.
